Sorry folks, both Alex and I have neglected the site for a while. I guess we’ve just been too busy.

All the HHF videos uploaded to Revver are embeded here. Let’s start with At the Gas Station, and follow with the rest after the break.

Updates and Such

Bobby | September 29th, 2007

Good news everyone! I’ve gone through and updated WordPress and several plugins / scripts. The fancy image script (LightBox) is now fancier. When perusing the site, any set of thumbnails can be browsed through in the same “popup” window. Try it out.

Another cool thing is that our videos are now available on Revver. While we’ve always uploaded to Archive.org, we’ve now started using Revver as well. Why Revver you ask? We get some ad revenue from them. So, when watching our movies (on Revver) you’re actually helping us make more and better movies. Media creation isn’t cheap you know…

So keep watching, we’ll be adding Revver videos as we upload them.

Back to School Special

I started school again last Wednesday, and so I thought it’d be cool to post some stuff I always have available for when I’m bored at school (and have access to a computer). (more…)

Blackout

Bobby | August 12th, 2007

While I try my best to keep my server PC on 24/7, I can’t control things if my power goes out. So if the site isn’t available, try it again in 10-15 mins, if it’s still not working, then I don’t have power. That’s another problem with a self hosted website.

I’m saying this because I live in the suburbs and apparently our electric system isn’t so reliable out here. With all the strain from the AC, the little power boxes around my subdivision turn off to avoid overloading the grid. Unfortunately, my little power box is the one that gets cut off most often. My power went out about three hours ago, and I just got it back. Sorry if the site went down during your visit.

Our Temporary Home

Bobby | July 27th, 2007

Welcome back to livindead.com! Let me first explain the current situation:

Our previous host, Black Hawk Data was owned by our friend Garret Reardon. A while ago Garret had told me that he will be getting out of the web host business and could not promise service beyond May 2008 (high school graduation time for myself and Garret, we’re not at the same school). As it turns out, Garret had the opportunity to sell his current clients to GoDaddy a few weeks ago. Taking this chance, Garret sold his customers. However, we had always gotten free hosting, and of course that is not a lucrative business option for GoDaddy. Sadly, LDP was once again offline.

All was not lost however, we still control the livindead.com domain name. By utilizing a free DNS service, I was able to send any requests for livindead.com to my home server. That is how you are viewing this page now. My dinky old box is sitting here behind my residential DSL connection. Before you complain, do realize that 1. this is an old machine (900MHz, 256MB SDRAM), and 2. a residential DSL connection isn’t ideal for hosting a website. Don’t expect more than 30kB/s download speeds from this site, especially if there are several users.

Now our future plans: (more…)

Some Problems

Bobby | July 5th, 2007

Apart from the lack of activity recently, I have noticed a few problems with the site. I recently updated WordPress and that seems to have broken any of the posts with YouTube / Google / etc. Flash embeds. This occurs because of the automatic formatting WordPress applies to everything. I’ll be working on a fix.

Stage6 and TV Links

Bobby | June 14th, 2007

In our web travels, we probably come across some TV shows or other big time media on various sites like YouTube, DailyMotion, and the countless clones. Some video sites offer monitary rewards to people who upload popular content, others offer a more community approach, and more are peer-to-peer based. I present to you another video site: Stage6. From the company behind the DivX codec (and player), brings their video site that uses their high quality codec.

The videos on Stage6 are typically of higher quality than YouTube or competitors simply because they utilize the DivX codec, which is known for high quality video compressed to small file sizes. The only problem with the site is that it requires the small DivX web plugin to be installed. What YouTube and others have done using Flash and the Flash video format, DivX Inc. has done with their plugin. While still in beta, the plugin works great and even lets you save the video! (more…)

Congratulations to Tom Vasilj for his short “Cum-On-Now” which won with 5 votes (hopefully not all his own), and a further congratulations to all other entries due to their high quality and expanse difference in subject matter, etc.

So here we go on to Number Two (pfft. . . hehe . . number 2 . . .). The second obstacle you must overcome is . . .

The camera must be set in a stable framing for the entire 15 seconds and must contain food.

Submissions are due Saturday, June 16 at midnight. Good Luck!
